Mind mapping is one of powerful tool to enhance understanding, recalling and creativity. 

I found some good freeware mind mapping tool online that will be useful for your studying, teaching and summarizing notes: 

Free Mind software. 
http://freemind.sourceforge.net/wiki/index.php/Download
It is available for windows, Linux and Macintosh OS X. 
Require small programming language (esp to resize picture ) 
Not flexible (i.e. cannot position text as user desired). 
A lot of small useful icons (i.e. important, idea, mail, OK and note). 

2. XMind

Free.
Contain some useful icons (i.e. important, Idea)
Easy to insert icons.
Easy to insert and resize picture.
Several selections of themes (i.e. classic, simple).

3. Virtual Understanding Environment
http://vue.tufts.edu/index.cfm
Best (from my opinion) as it is FREE
Allow flexibility to objects around.
Change colours of objects.
Insert image, hyperlink.
Run slideshow of the mapping.
No helpful icon (too bad, but you can always insert some useful picture marker instead..)

4. MindNode

http://www.mindnode.com/
Free software.
For MAC only.
Easy, clean, straight-forward.
Cannot insert picture.

I recommend students and teachers to use mind mapping tool in their lesson. 
But of course, the tools offered limited creativity. So, bring the creativity inside of you.. Open-mouthed

Enabling Objective:

Importance: To know and understand the importance of transportation – without transport there will no business transaction

Mode: To produce examples of goods carried by each mode.

Factors: To know the factors that will affect ways of choosing the correct mode of transport

Modern Development: To understand and Identify the modern development in transport.
